Many thanks Philip! Steady so!
Philip Wake spent 14 years at the command bridge of the Nautical Institute, navigating it in the severe weather conditions of modern world and crisis in the shipping industry. During these years he became a real friend of Ukrainian Branch – since the opening and through all our history we felt his support and help in all matters.
Philip made four visits to Ukraine in person and assisted with Presidents’ visits. All of these visits became remarkable events in the life of Ukrainian maritime society.
Among other our mutual achievements we have to mention successful accreditation of Odessa National Maritime Academy in 2001 (close cooperation with Rector maintained during all these years) and great support in conferences of our Branch and others – such as Education and Training of the seafarers and Maritime Days in Odessa.
All initiatives of our Branch were duly learned and supported.
Special thanks for the high evaluation and support of the “Sea Review” journal, which celebrated 15 years recently.
Philip supported publishing of the books in Ukraine – series : “Safety & Quality”, “Security at Sea” and “ Seafarer's Library”.
For all these achievements, Philip was awarded by our Branch award “For the Service to Nautical Institute of Ukraine” and medal “For the Revival of Ukraine”.
All members of the Ukrainian Branch want to issue very high appreciation of the activity of Philip Wake – very good friend of us, professional and honorable person!
